On Tuesday, January 21, the Embassy of Canada, in collaboration with CANSEE Canadian-Serbian Business Association, organized a seminar on the topic of responsible social business in the future of Serbian mining: “Trilateral Dialogue on CSR – Canadian Experience”.
The seminar was held in order to promote a responsible approach to the development of mining projects in Serbia.
GRAS has a presentation about his role, members, future activities and importance of a mining industry advocacy for the development of a big mining projects.
Representing the importance of this industry for her country, Canadian Ambassador to Serbia Kati Csaba emphasized that the size and importance of the industry carries the responsibility towards all direct and indirect participants in the development of projects and informed all those present with the most important principles and standards of responsible mining developed in Canada, including the recently established Ombudsman Institution for Responsible Businesses.
The Embassy was also pleased to host Mr. Matthew Bliss, deputy director of IGF Mining who gave a presentation on Canada’s responsible mining standards and principles.
State Secretary of the Ministry of Energy and Mining Stevica Deđanski also had an opportunity to introduce future plans of the Ministry and pointed out that the number of licenses issued for exploration projects increased significantly, and that the volume of investments in the mining sector exceeded 100 million EUR in previous years.
